cow-shares

What are Cow-Shares?

In Texas, it is unlawful to buy or sell raw milk, but it is legal to drink fresh milk from a cow that you own! Just like dairy farm families have been drinking fresh milk from their own cows for several generations, you can do the same by owning a share of a cow.  The cow-share program is a legal arrangement where we provide a boarding service by feeding, caring, and milking your cow for you.  As a result, you are entitled to 1 gallon of fresh milk per week for every cow-share you purchase.

What is the cost?

A cow-share is a one time membership fee that sells for $20.00.  Thereafter, the monthly boarding fees for the feeding, caring, and milking of your cow is $29.25 per month, which comes out to about $6.75/gallon of fresh milk.  You can buy as many cow-shares as you like depending on your families’ milk needs.  We will buy back any un-used or un-needed shares if a member no longer has a need for their milk, so you will never be out the cost of your cow-share.

How do I get started?

First, come visit the farm. Bring your family with you.  Let us show you the cows, the barn, and the milk tank where you will get your own milk from.  We want to answer any questions.  Fill out the appropriate paperwork, and leave the farm with a gallon of fresh milk that same day!

How do I get my Real Milk?

Any way you want it.  Once we show you how to fill your own container from the cow-share members’ milk tank, you can come get it any time you want. Any hour, any day – it’s based on your schedule.  This is your milk, kept in the cow-share members’ own milk tanks at the dairy.   Bring your own container that best fits your needs:  Glass, plastic, ½ gallon, gallon size – it doesn’t matter.  We find that everyone has a preference of what they like best.
