What is Real Milk?
Our fresh, real milk is un-pasteurized, non-homogenized, and un-adulterated in any way! Also known as raw milk, it’s less than 24 hours old, and has the taste of freshness and creaminess you just won’t get anywhere else than on the farm. Raw milk is naturally filled with living enzymes and cultures vital for health. Many of the essential bacteria flora, vitamins, and enzymes are killed during the pasteurization process that takes place with any store bought milk, whether it’s organic milk or not. Shelf life for raw milk is typically about 7-10 days if properly refrigerated.
Homogenization is the factory micro-filtration process where milk fat molecules are broken up into really small fat particles. This is why homogenized milk’s cream doesn’t rise to the top, whereas raw milk’s cream will rise to the top within hours. However, this process also changes the molecular structure of the fat globules in a negative way that substantially changes how your body absorbs the fat because the fat particles are then small enough to squeeze through the intestinal linings. Homogenization has accelerated the consumer’s movement towards skim and 2% milk because this process has changed the natural way milk was produced! Raw milk’s fat will pass through the body with no negative impacts, yet maintain all the freshness and taste you would expect.
